President Trump slammed Harvard in a late-night message just after midnight on Sunday, questioning why over 30% of its student body is international students from countries that pay nothing while the United States pays billions to educate the world.
“Nobody told us that!” the President said. “We want to know who those foreign students are, a reasonable request since we give Harvard BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, but Harvard isn’t exactly forthcoming.”
He continued, “We want those names and countries. Harvard has $52,000,000, use it, and stop asking for the Federal Government to continue GRANTING money to you!”
This comes after the Trump Administration froze more than $2.7 billion in multi-year research grants and $60 million in contracts for the school last month. This also comes amid a crackdown on Harvard’s use of student visas.
President Trump posted on Truth Social,
Why isn’t Harvard saying that almost 31% of their students are from FOREIGN LANDS, and yet those countries, some not at all friendly to the United States, pay NOTHING toward their student’s education, nor do they ever intend to. Nobody told us that! We want to know who those foreign students are, a reasonable request since we give Harvard BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, but Harvard isn’t exactly forthcoming.
We want those names and countries. Harvard has $52,000,000, use it, and stop asking for the Federal Government to continue GRANTING money to you!
Last week, the Department of Homeland Security informed Harvard University that it will no longer be allowed to issue student visas for international applicants.
The decision follows Harvard’s failure to supply documentation confirming that it adheres to U.S. laws prohibiting discrimination in the name of DEI, toleration of campus violence, and collaboration with authoritarian foreign regimes, including the Chinese Communist Party.
An Obama Judge blocked this move from the Trump Administration on Friday.
